WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS:
The Director of Quality is responsible for ensuring excellent quality practices across 3 Roehm Business Units in Region Americas. This includes overseeing the development, implementation, and control of quality standards, methodologies, and metrics.
The role involves providing clear leadership to uphold high quality standards and fostering a culture of quality excellence. The Director of Quality also leads the continuous improvement program, collaborating with various levels of management and employees. Additionally, the role involves managing compliance with ISO, RC, and IATF standards and documentation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Implement global BU-specific Quality strategies in alignment regional interface functions.
- Develop and implement a regional quality strategy aligned with current business strategies.
- Continuously work on the reduction of cost of poor quality with the right initiatives globally for the Business units.
- Collaborate closely with Operations and site managers and enforce globally determined quality standards and methods.
- Execute and support internal audits (as Lead Auditor where required), ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with complaints management processes and drive resolution, ensuring data consistency within relevant systems (e.g., SAP-QM).
- Ensure compliance with quality requirements set by customers, company, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead and manage various quality projects, establishing universally applied standards.
- Develop and manage quality KPIs for each business function and review ongoing performance.
- Act as the Parsippany site ESHQ representative, overseeing internal audits, incident investigations, and participating in the regional ESHQ network.
- Update and modify in-house systems to meet external certification body needs as outlined in the Global QM System.
- Foster effective communication and knowledge sharing with Roehm RAM locations and global ESHQ personnel.
- Report monthly against agreed quality metrics to the Regional Management Team (RMT).
- Responsible to actively work on the improvement of BU quality performance. Leads the Quality Referent Americas
Functional responsibilities & required skills:
- Ensure customer-centric quality processes through the implementation of best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of Quality performance improvements at regional level.
- Maintain and enforce quality-related processes in alignment with the global BU’s guidelines (e.g., work instructions, standards, management system updates).
- Ensure proper execution of quality test methods and equipment harmonization as directed by global BU Quality Managers.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality complaints and champion the concept within the business.
- Lead ‘correct at source’ and problem-solving initiates.
- Establish universally applied quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage the Roehm America Intellaquest document management system.
Leadership responsibilities & required skills:
- Manage and develop the Quality Specialist role in Region America.
- Cultivate an organizational culture focused on quality excellence, providing clear leadership in its development.
- Promotes a culture of Quality excellence (i.e. problems/issue detection and corresponding solution definition and implementation) fostering collaboration across departments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track and document corrective and preventive actions resulting from audit findings and oversee their execution.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
- Communicates with personnel at all levels, internally and externally in relation to quality matters.
- The incumbent interfaces with all regional BU Heads and Plant Site Management and Global Quality Management Teams.
- This position also interfaces with corporate and service functions like procurement, financial services, IT, and ESHQ to ensure that agreed quality standards are considered and implemented.
- Works collaboratively, negotiates and engages with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with quality strategy
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organization’s quality targets.
- Works with regional Roehm management team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities in line with company and customer requirements.
- Works with global Head of ESHQ Management and global SCB team to develop and implement global quality projects and initiatives.
- Works with customer to incorporate customer needs and requirements into the quality processes and quality KPI & performance management concept.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering or related discipline required, MBA preferred
- 6 Sigma/LEAN Certified – preferred
- 7 + years’ experience in the areas of Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement Process
- Experience in the chemical, plastics, or manufacturing fields desired. Quality certification(s) preferred.
- Experience in implementing, managing, and maintaining ISO compliance is required, experience in implementing, managing, and maintaining IATF 16949 compliance is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel/Pivot Tables, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience in SAP preferred.
- QM systems (e.g., IQ, SAP, LIMS), project mgmt., Lead Auditor, Lean Six Sigma, data analysis & reporting
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to manufacturing sites and other facilities up to 50%.
